My name is Nikola Milan and I founded ‘This Is Nirvana’ and play Kurt in the band.
I started playing guitar when I was around 9 and got into Nirvana when I was 13 or 14. I fell in love with their music. With the passion and energy. I was inspired by Nirvana and then latter the Foo Fighters as well as other artists to start writing and make my own band. I had an original band for ten years but found out that it did not really give me much of an opportunity to gig and travel to other places so I decided to form a Nirvana tribute band in April 2011.
I very quickly brought in Paul White to play drums who auditioned by playing 8 songs perfectly and through a mutual friend brought in David Gaut to play bass 3 hours before a gig after the original bass player cancelled on us 4 hours before a tour! Simon Mooney took over from Paul on the drums in January 2012 by also auditioning 8 songs perfectly. Paul is still a member who is happy to fill in for Simon should the need arise.
In July 2011 we started touring and we hope to come play a venue near you as soon as we can. We hope to meet many more people that come along and just go crazy to the music and also those who just join in and sing along at the top of their lungs.
Venues already played- The Witchwood (Ashton-under-Lyne), The Dirty South (London), The Bitter End (Romford), The Diamond (Sutton in Ashfield), The Purple Turtle (Reading), The New Roscoe (Leeds), The Greenside Hotel (Leslie, Scotland), The Beat Generator (Dundee, Scotland), The Bowery (London), Sanctaury Rock Bar (Burnley), The Shed (Leicester), Eddies Rock Club (Birmingham)
We have done an Unlugged set once so far and I'm sure I could make it happen again but if you want the exact thing I may need to bring in a few other musicians so it might be pricey but I'm also happy to do our own take on a Nirvana acoustic set. Can also do both in one night.
